Did you know that Red Poppies are one of the official symbols of Memorial Day? Since the early twentieth century, veterans have handed out Red Poppies as a reminder of those who have died.
To honor this tradition and celebrate Memorial Day, try this craft making Red Poppy Flowers using your RoseArt supplies! This craft is great for young children, not to mention a way for kids to learn a little about history!
Start by gathering your supplies for this craft:
- RoseArt Broadline Markers
- RoseArt Glue Stick
- Red and Black Construction Paper
- Card stock or construction paper for background (I chose a light blue background, but any color will do!)
- Outline of Poppy Flower
First, print out your Poppy Flower outline. I used the outline below for this craft:
Next, carefully poke out the center of the flower. When completed, cut a small piece of the black construction paper and tape to the back.
To create the petals for the Red Poppy, start to tear the red construction paper into small pieces. Use your RoseArt Glue Stick to glue the petals to the Poppy outline.
Once completed, cut the Poppy Flower and glue onto your card stock paper. Use your RoseArt Broadline Markers to decorate your flower – adding a stem, roots, background, etc.
And here is your Red Poppy! Enjoy this craft, and have a Happy Memorial Day!
