Celebrate the spirit and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with this beautiful and symbolic art project. Gather a few of your child’s friends to get this project going and remind them of the significance of this special day.
Here are the materials needed for this project:
- RoseArt Poster Paints
- RoseArt Paint Brushes
- RoseArt School Glue
- USA Gold #2 Pencil
- Construction Paper (one color for each child participating)
- White Drawing Paper
Start by painting your white drawing paper with different colors of your RoseArt Poster Paints. Paint however you see fit, and the more colors the better!
While the paint is drying, have the kids trace their hands onto different colors of construction paper. The different hands and colors symbolize unity among each other.
Next, cut a heart shape out of the pink construction paper – a peace sign is another great choice! Glue all the pieces onto a collage with the heart front and center. A nice option is to place the heart in the middle with all hands towards to the heart. Kids can choose what is most impactful to them!
This craft is a great reminder of the unconditional love, forgiveness and nonviolence that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. embodied.
