If you are anything like me, you have a stack of old magazines just lying around the house. Of course you can recycle your magazines, but have you ever thought of reUSING them? Here is a neat craft to create an eco-friendly bowl using old magazines and your RoseArt School Glue and Glue Stick!
Here is what you’ll need:
– RoseArt School Glue or RoseArt Glue Stick
– old magazines (1-2 total)
Start by ripping out all the pages of your magazines (it can be quite therapeutic, just you wait!). Take one page and fold it in half. Unfold it, but then fold the two edges into the middle. Repeat this two more times.
From there, grab your RoseArt School Glue (or RoseArt Glue Stick) and glue the two sides together. I used approximately 25-35 strips total, but it depends on how large or small you want your creation!
Tip! I created 5-10 strips at a time and allowed the glue to dry completely before moving to the next step. I placed the strips under a book to speed up the process. Just an idea that worked for me!
Once you have your strips, start to roll one into a spiral. Once the entire strip is spiraled, tape the end. Take your remaining strips and repeat these steps, layering the next strip where the last one finished.
There are lots of things you can do with this craft. You can create a magazine bowl or even coasters! If you choose to make coasters, make a disk big enough to fit a glass, approximately 4″ in diameter.
If you make a bowl, start by creating a disk, and then spiral the strips upward to create a bowl shape. I made my bowl approximately 10″ in diameter.
Once you are finished with your masterpiece, you have the option to varnish it so it stays strong and shiny. Let the varnish dry completely, approximately 1 hour.
And there you have it! Here is your beautiful eco-friendly item in your household…not to mention, a great gift idea! Enjoy!
