Let in a little sunshine this summer with this fun Kite Sun Catcher activity. You only need a few household supplies and RoseArt Crayons and Glue Stick to make this happen. As you will see, this activity is very similar to the Fall Leaf Activity posted last year. Check out the instructions below!

Here are the supplies you will need:

  • RoseArt Crayons
  • RoseArt Glue Stick
  • Write Dudes Pencil Sharpener
  • 2 Pieces of Construction Paper
  • Scissors
  • Iron
  • Wax Paper
  • Kitchen Towels
  • Paper Towels
  • Ribbon
  • Kite Template (feel free to use the template below!)

To start, trace the kite template onto the two pieces of construction paper. Cut out the pieces and set aside.

Next, cut a piece of wax paper approximately 8 x 11”(size of letter paper). Choose your favorite RoseArt Crayon colors and use your Write Dudes Pencil Sharpener to shave a thin layer of the crayons onto the wax paper.

Once you have filled the wax paper with crayon shavings, cut a second piece of wax paper and place on top.

Now, get your ironing board ready and set your iron to warm. Place a kitchen towel on the ironing board, then the wax paper on top.  You can also place a kitchen towel over the wax paper to protect your iron. *I recommend using both towels as the colors will bleed. It will help to preserve your iron and ironing board!

Gently press down on the iron and spread the colors throughout the wax paper. Once the colors have evenly spread, allow the wax paper to cool and turn off your iron.

Now, cut the wax paper to fit within the kite template. Use your RoseArt Glue Stick to glue the pieces together.

For the finishing touch, cut a ribbon to make a tail and glue to the bottom.
